learn.michaelguay.dev is operated by NetTrack LLC, doing business as Michael Guay. This page explains what we collect, why, and who helps us run the site. We don't sell your data, and there are no advertising trackers on the site.
What we collect
- Your email, and your name if you sign in with Google or GitHub: to sign you in and to email you about your account.
- Your membership: which plan you have and when it renews or ends, as Polar tells us. We never see or store your card details.
- Sign-in sessions, with the IP address and browser they came from: to keep your account secure.
- Video playback data, such as whether a video loaded and played smoothly, and your approximate location from your IP address: so we can keep streaming fast and fix problems.
Cookies
Two, both needed for the site to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a cookie that remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme.
Who helps us run the site
- Polar: payments, receipts and taxes, as the seller of the membership.
- Mux: video hosting and streaming, and playback analytics.
- Mailgun: sending sign-in links and account emails.
- Railway: hosting the site and its database.
- Stripe: if you joined on the original michaelguay.dev site, we look up your existing subscription there by your email, to give you access here.
Reviews shown on the site come from public reviews of the courses on Udemy, with reviewers shown by first name and initial.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data, except what we must keep for tax and accounting (payment records, which Polar holds).
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or have your account deleted: email support@michaelguay.dev from the email on your account.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and say so on the site.
